Aston Villa Secures Aaron Wan-Bissaka on Loan from West Ham United
Aston Villa has finalized the acquisition of Aaron Wan-Bissaka from West Ham United on a season-long loan deal. This agreement includes a conditional obligation to buy, though the specific terms remain undisclosed. West Ham had previously requested a fee of £25 million from interested parties. Last season, Villa successfully brought in Harvey Elliott from Liverpool on a similar loan deal that included an obligation to purchase for £35 million. However, that agreement required Elliott to play in 10 league games to make the move permanent, but he managed only four appearances before returning to Liverpool this summer. During the loan negotiations, Wan-Bissaka missed West Ham's first two matches of the season. The 28-year-old defender had joined West Ham on a seven-year contract from Manchester United in 2024. Over his two seasons at the club, he has made 65 appearances, including 25 during the season when the Hammers faced relegation to the Championship. Prior to his time at West Ham, Wan-Bissaka played 190 matches for Manchester United, securing victories in the League Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024. Notably, he also represented DR Congo in the 2026 World Cup, starting all four matches and aiding the team in reaching the round of 32.
