BBC Unveils New Faces for Match of the Day Punditry This Season
The BBC has officially welcomed four new pundits to its lineup for the upcoming Premier League season of Match of the Day. Joining the established panel are: Thomas Frank, former manager of Tottenham and Brentford Ashley Young, who has recently retired from professional play Toby Alderweireld, a former centre half for Belgium Robbie Keane, another ex-Tottenham player These additions complement the existing roster that includes prominent figures like Wayne Rooney and Alan Shearer. The show will continue to be presented by Gabby Logan, Mark Chapman, and Kelly Cates, who are entering their second season after taking over from Gary Lineker. In a significant programming change, the long-running Football Focus has been discontinued after 52 years. Instead, BBC One will air The Football Interview, featuring Kelly Somers in conversation with James Maddison, the midfielder from Tottenham, ahead of the first Saturday of the new season. Alex Kay-Jelski, the BBC's director of sport, emphasized the network's commitment to enriching the football experience for fans: "Football means something different to every fan, and this season BBC Sport is putting those fans even more firmly at the heart of the game."
