Catalonia Aims for Glory at CESA 2026 with Promising Young Teams

The Catalan selections in the infant and cadet categories prepare for a new edition of the Championship of Spain for Autonomous Selections (CESA), taking place from June 25 to 28 in Lugo. This prestigious volleyball tournament will once again gather the top national prospects, concluding the indoor season. Challenging Groups and Exciting Debuts In the infant girls’ category, the Catalan team, coached by Jordi Llonch and assisted by Marc Busquets, is placed in Group C. They will debut on June 25 at 11:30 AM against Castilla-La Mancha, followed by matches against La Rioja and Canary Islands. Their goal is to secure a top-two finish in the group and continue competing for positions from first to ninth. They arrive after securing third place in the 2025 edition, boosting their confidence. The infant boys’ team will compete in Group B against Murcia, Valencia, and Melilla, under the leadership of David Casas and assistant Albert Orive. They also start on June 25 at 11:30 AM against the Murcian team in a highly competitive group. The cadet girls, current Spanish champions, are led by Miguel Fuente and assistant Esther Carrascosa, and will be in Group A with Navarra, Galicia, and Balears. They will debut against Navarra on June 25 at 9:30 AM, aiming to reclaim their title. Lastly, the cadet boys will face Basque Country, Galicia, and Castilla-La Mancha in Group A, directed by Israel Martín and assisted by Miguel Sánchez. Their first match is against the Basque team on June 25 at 9:30 AM, in a particularly demanding group. Pre-Competition Concentration and Preparation All four Catalan teams are currently training at the Catalan Sports Technification Centre in Esplugues de Llobregat, from June 13 to 21. They are working together intensively to ensure they arrive at CESA in peak physical and psychological condition. Before heading to Galicia on June 23, they will receive a visit from the President of the Catalan Volleyball Federation, Maribel Zamora, and manager Oscar Novillo, who will express their support and wish the teams luck. With everything in place, the Catalan selections are ready to take on the challenge with enthusiasm, ambition, and team spirit, aiming to establish Catalonia as a powerhouse in youth volleyball.
