Man City Eyes Cody Gakpo as Liverpool Stands Firm Against Potential Sale
Manchester City has expressed interest in signing Cody Gakpo, who is also a target for Tottenham Hotspur, from Liverpool FC. City is exploring options to enhance their forward lineup, particularly as they prepare for the potential departures of Savinho and Omar Marmoush to Tottenham. As of now, there have been no official negotiations between Manchester City and Liverpool regarding Gakpo, who remains under contract at Anfield until 2030. Liverpool is currently reluctant to part ways with the 27-year-old, especially since they would need to recruit two wide forwards to feel secure in allowing his departure. Gakpo recently showcased his value by scoring in Liverpool's Premier League opener against Newcastle United last weekend. Meanwhile, Liverpool is actively pursuing players such as Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye from Paris Saint-Germain, and has faced multiple rejections for Yankuba Minteh from Brighton & Hove Albion. In a related development, Manchester City has reached a verbal agreement with Palmeiras for the signing of Allan for £34 million as a replacement for Savinho. This deal consists of a fixed fee of £32 million plus £2 million in add-ons. Although both clubs have agreed on terms, the formal exchange of documents is pending, and Allan will undergo a medical once all conditions are met. Savinho's transfer to Tottenham is expected to be finalized for a fee of up to £85 million.
