Grimaldo's Future Uncertain as Besiktas and Barcelona Eye the Left-Back

Alejandro Grimaldo, the 30-year-old left-back from Bayer Leverkusen, appears set to leave the club this summer after three seasons in the Bundesliga. Following a failed return to Spain last year, Grimaldo once again finds himself linked with a move, with reports suggesting he could be available for €10-12 million, given he has just one year left on his contract. FC Barcelona is reportedly considering Grimaldo as a left-back alternative for the second consecutive season, although this depends on whether either Joao Cancelo or Alejandro Balde departs the club. In a twist, Besiktas has reportedly reached an agreement with Grimaldo on personal terms, according to Sky Sport Switzerland. Sporting Director Eduard Graf met with Grimaldo to discuss his vision for the player, indicating a key role in the team. However, Besiktas still needs to negotiate a fee with Leverkusen, which is speculated to be around €20 million. Despite these claims, transfer insider Matteo Moretto has denied any agreement with Besiktas, stating that Grimaldo prefers a return to La Liga—a desire he has openly expressed. Moretto also indicated that AC Milan has not made contact regarding a potential deal. In previous transfer windows, both Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid showed interest in Grimaldo, but Los Blancos opted for Alvaro Carreras instead. Meanwhile, Atletico is still seeking another left-back, with Matteo Ruggeri as the only specialist currently in their squad.
