Dart and Lumsden's Grit Leads Them to Nottingham Open Final in Thrilling Comeback

Harriet Dart and Maia Lumsden are on the brink of a remarkable victory at the Lexus Nottingham Open, having advanced to the women’s doubles final after a hard-fought match against Indonesian third seeds Janice Tjen and Aldila Sutjiadi, winning 4-6, 6-4, 10-6. This marks their second consecutive final on British grass, following their recent success at the Lexus Birmingham Open. After losing the first set, Dart and Lumsden displayed resilience, clinching a decisive 10-4 in the third-set match tie-break. Dart reflected on their performance, stating, "We were a bit slow to start but we started to get into it. A tie-break is always a bit of a flip of a coin, but I was really proud of how we came together as a team." Lumsden echoed her partner's sentiments, emphasizing their determination: "We both fought really hard to win that match... it's great to get more energy from the crowd." Their journey has been impressive, having previously defeated top seeds Storm Hunter and Caty McNally in the quarterfinals with a score of 7-5, 6-2. They have demonstrated increased confidence and capability, especially competing in the higher-level WTA 250 tournament. With the duo also awarded Wimbledon wildcards for the women’s doubles main draw, they hope to improve on last year's first-round exit. Dart highlighted their growth as a pair, stating, "We've become very clear about how we want to play and what strategies work for us." In other tournament news, former world number one Karolina Pliskova defeated Talia Gibson 7-5, 6-4, setting up a semi-final against fellow Czech Marie Bouzkova. On the men’s side, Otto Virtanen and Christopher O'Connell reached the final of the ATP 125 Challenger competition.
