Lawrence Shankland Realizes Childhood Dream with Move to Rangers

Rangers have officially signed Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland, marking a significant milestone in the striker's career as he completes a “dream” move to his boyhood club. The 30-year-old Scotland international enjoyed a prolific stint at Hearts, netting 88 goals in 171 appearances over four years. Last season, he led the team in their pursuit of a first Scottish league title since 1960, although they ultimately fell short to Celtic after a disappointing final-day defeat at Parkhead. Shankland's transfer to Rangers has been long anticipated, with the player nearly signing last summer when he was out of contract. He is set to join the Ibrox club before the upcoming World Cup, arriving on a two-year deal with an option for an additional year, all for an undisclosed fee. "I am delighted to be here and to have this opportunity,” Shankland expressed during an interview with Rangers TV. “Rangers is my boyhood club, and it has always been a dream to play here, so I was really keen to get it done. A lot of hard graft has gone in to get to this point, and I'm just really happy." Rangers boss Danny Rohl praised Shankland, stating: "We are delighted to have Lawrence join Rangers. He is a player with proven quality, leadership, and work ethic, and his goalscoring record in Scotland speaks for itself." In a statement, Hearts confirmed Shankland's departure, thanking him for his contributions: “Heart of Midlothian can confirm that Lawrence Shankland is leaving the club to join Rangers. We thank Lawrence for all of his efforts during his four years in Gorgie.”
