Ivor Pandur Chooses Rangers Over Hull City's Premier League Ambitions

New Rangers goalkeeper Ivor Pandur has made a significant career choice by opting to join the Scottish side rather than continuing with Hull City, who aimed to sign a new number one this summer. The 26-year-old, who was part of Croatia's squad at the World Cup, expressed his feelings about the transition after making 48 appearances last season, helping Hull secure promotion via the play-offs. He stated, "It's strange. The gaffer is also Croatian like me. He told me he wanted me to stay and to play. But the club had a different idea of bringing in another keeper who has Premier League experience, which I don't have yet." Pandur acknowledged that Hull made it clear they intended to bring in a new goalkeeper, leading him to seek opportunities elsewhere. He reflected on his time at Hull, expressing pride in the experiences he shared with the club. His move to Rangers was facilitated by ongoing interest that began even before he joined Hull from Fortuna Sittard in 2024. Pandur noted that the deal was finalized quickly, stating, "I didn't have much to think about when the approach came." At Rangers, he is excited about working under goalkeeping coach Allan McGregor, a club legend. "It means a lot to me to have him as my coach. I want to learn from the best and that's why I came as well," he said. Before making his decision, Pandur consulted with former teammates, including John Lundstram and Kieran Dowell, who highlighted the pressure and expectations at Rangers. He embraced this challenge, stating, "I want to test myself on the biggest stage, and I think Rangers are one of the biggest clubs in Europe. In my mind, I know I'm ready for it."
