Joe Joyce Eyes Rematch with Daniel Dubois as Path to Redemption

Joe Joyce expressed his desire for a rematch with Daniel Dubois, calling it "an attractive option." Joyce handed Dubois his first professional defeat in 2020, a fight where Dubois sustained significant damage and was counted out. Since then, Dubois has rebounded impressively, becoming a two-time heavyweight world champion with notable victories over Anthony Joshua and Fabio Wardley. Joyce, who previously held the WBO Interim heavyweight title after dominating Joseph Parker, has faced challenges in recent bouts. He suffered back-to-back losses to Zhilei Zhang, Filip Hrgovic, and Derek Chisora, which have hindered his career momentum. The 40-year-old boxer aims to get back on track with an upcoming fight against unbeaten Artem Suslenkov on the undercard of Murat Gassiev vs Tony Yoka in Moscow on July 11. Joyce emphasized the importance of focusing on this fight before considering a rematch with Dubois, who now holds the WBO heavyweight world title. Joyce stated, "It's always an attractive option... I was WBO Interim [champion] off the back of beating Dubois and Parker. So it's just like a bit of a mistake that I'm going to rectify now." However, he acknowledged that a loss to Suslenkov would jeopardize his aspirations. "I've got to deal with what's in front of me first before looking too far ahead," Joyce added, underlining his motivation to return to form and showcase the improvements he has made during his year of inactivity.
