Josh Allen Reveals He Played with a Broken Foot During Final Weeks of Season

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen recently disclosed that he played through a broken bone in his right foot during the last weeks of the 2025 season. He underwent surgery to repair a fifth metatarsal avulsion after re-aggravating an older injury in the Week 16 victory against the Cleveland Browns. The expected recovery time is 8-10 weeks, allowing him to participate in voluntary offseason workouts this spring. During his injury, the Bills managed a 2-2 record, which included a wild card playoff win over the Jacksonville Jaguars but ended in a divisional round defeat to the Denver Broncos. "Obviously, not an ideal situation," Allen remarked, emphasizing the pain he dealt with during games. He entered the press conference using crutches and a walking boot, reflecting on the team's emotional journey. Following the playoff loss, the Bills decided to fire head coach Sean McDermott and promote offensive coordinator Joe Brady to the head coach position. Allen expressed mixed feelings about McDermott's dismissal, stating, "If I make one more play in Denver, we're not sitting here right now having this press conference." He expressed enthusiasm about working with Brady, who has been with the team since 2022 and is deeply committed to the team's success. In addition, Allen addressed the situation surrounding Keon Coleman, the player the team drafted in 2024. "I'm not going to give up on him. He’s got too much ability," Allen affirmed, promising to work tirelessly to ensure they find ways to win together.
