Rasheed Walker's Airport Gun Incident Raises Legal Questions for Packers Lineman
Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Rasheed Walker found himself in legal trouble after being arrested on Friday morning at LaGuardia Airport in New York. Authorities reported that Walker attempted to check a bag containing a handgun and ammunition, leading to his detainment at Terminal C. According to a criminal complaint obtained by the New York Post, Walker, 25, informed a Delta Air Lines employee about a locked box in his luggage, which contained a 9mm Glock pistol and 36 rounds of ammunition. Following this disclosure, Port Authority police were alerted and subsequently searched the bag. Walker faces serious charges, including: Two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon One count of criminal possession of a firearm He appeared in Queens County Criminal Court for the gun charge and was released on his own recognizance. Walker is scheduled to return to court on March 19. His attorney, Arthur Aidala, claimed the incident resulted from a misunderstanding, emphasizing that the firearm was legally licensed in Wisconsin. Aidala stated, "It was in a locked box and he disclosed it to the people at the airport. He mistakenly thought because he had a licensed firearm and it was in a locked box that he was able to travel with it. We are confident the case will be dismissed." Selected by the Packers in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Walker has emerged as a starting left tackle over his four professional seasons. He has played in 51 games, starting 48 of them, including 16 of the team's 17 games this season. As he approaches free agency, the Packers have yet to comment publicly on his arrest.
