Feyenoord Relocates Training to Belgium for Raheem Sterling's Smooth Integration

Feyenoord has made a significant decision to train in Belgium this week, allowing Raheem Sterling to adapt with his new teammates. The England forward joined Feyenoord last week after parting ways with Chelsea by mutual consent, but he cannot participate in training or matches in the Netherlands until his work permit is approved. Manager Robin van Persie confirmed the move to Tubize, approximately 137 km from Rotterdam, highlighting the importance of facilitating Sterling's integration into the team. "One of the reasons is that Sterling can train with the team," Van Persie stated. "But we can also work on our team culture there. It's for Raheem and for those processes that we're going to do this." Feyenoord plans to return to their home base in Rotterdam after Wednesday’s training session and is optimistic that Sterling’s work permit will be processed in time for their upcoming home match against Telstar on Sunday. Sterling, who has previously played for Manchester City, Liverpool, and Arsenal, explored various options after leaving Chelsea. Reports indicate that around 18 clubs across England and Europe showed interest before he ultimately chose Feyenoord. Currently, the 16-time Dutch champions sit second in the Eredivisie table, trailing league leaders PSV by 14 points. Sterling has an impressive record of 20 goals in 82 international appearances for England, although he has not featured for the Three Lions since 2022.
