Connor Barron Aims for League Glory and World Cup Spot with Rangers and Scotland

Rangers midfielder Connor Barron is set on achieving a “perfect” conclusion to the season by clinching the Scottish Premiership title and securing a place in Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad for the upcoming World Cup. At just 23 years old, Barron has made a significant impact during Danny Röhl's early tenure as Rangers head coach. After overcoming a knee injury that sidelined him for over two months, he is eager to contribute to both his club and country. His impressive performances prior to injury led to late call-ups for the national team in October and November, helping Scotland achieve their first World Cup qualification in 28 years with a memorable 4-2 win against Denmark at Hampden Park. Despite returning to action in mid-March, Barron has primarily been a substitute as Tochi Chukwuani has taken the starting role alongside Nico Raskin. Nevertheless, Barron remains focused on the title race and catching Clarke's attention ahead of the USA trip. The competition for midfield spots is fierce with established players like Scott McTominay, Billy Gilmour, and John McGinn already in contention, along with emerging talents. Barron recognizes the challenge but believes he can offer energy and composure to the national team. Reflecting on his aspirations, Barron stated, "It would mean everything to me... to pull on that Scotland shirt and represent your country." In the league, Rangers demonstrated mental fortitude with a 6-3 comeback victory against Falkirk, keeping them just one point behind leaders Hearts. Barron is optimistic about their chances, emphasizing the strong mentality within the squad. As he seeks more first-team opportunities, Barron remains determined to maintain high standards and contribute significantly in the closing stages of the season. "It’s one you want to be involved in... that would mean everything," he added, expressing his ambition for both league success and a World Cup berth.
