Tuchel Plans Saka's Return for England's Final Group Game Against Panama

Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Bukayo Saka will be carefully managed during training, making it unlikely he will start for England until their last World Cup group match against Panama. Saka, who has been recovering from an Achilles injury that hampered his performance during Arsenal's Premier League-winning campaign, only appeared as a substitute in England's recent 4-2 victory over Croatia. Tuchel stated, "Bukayo is ready and will get more and more ready," after Saka's contribution in training. The coach emphasized the importance of managing Saka's minutes, hinting he may not take the field from the start against Ghana. This situation means Saka's teammate, Noni Madueke, is expected to continue on the right wing, having impressed in his World Cup debut against Croatia. Madueke not only won a penalty but was also a key attacking player throughout the match. Tuchel acknowledged the depth of talent in the squad, stating he faces tough decisions regarding wing positions, especially after Marcus Rashford's impactful performance as a substitute. He noted the competitive atmosphere among the wingers, adding, "All four of them, the wingers... the level they are competing at was the highest level." Moving forward, Tuchel aims to encourage a more aggressive attacking style for England, following an exciting second-half display against Croatia. He remarked, "That's exactly what the boys did in the second half. And that's what's needed to be done." England's offensive prowess was evident with 22 shots and 36 touches in the box against Croatia. Tuchel expressed hope that the team's performance would resonate with fans, saying, "I had a thought in the second half - oh, the people in the pubs they will like this!" He aims to maintain this energetic approach as the tournament progresses.
