Liverpool and PSG Battle for RB Leipzig Star Yan Diomandé Amid Transfer Rumors

RB Leipzig sensation Yan Diomandé has reportedly given the ‘green light’ to a summer move to Paris Saint-Germain, although the young winger is also highly tempted by significant interest from Liverpool. According to a recent report from Foot Mercato, PSG sporting director Luis Campos aims to rejuvenate the French champions' squad after a challenging campaign. Campos has pinpointed the 19-year-old Ivorian as the ideal player to address the club's current tactical imbalance on the right flank. While PSG has already conducted multiple meetings with RB Leipzig management to negotiate a deal, they face stiff competition from the Premier League. The report highlights that Liverpool has made Diomandé their top target as they prepare for life after Mohamed Salah. Diomandé’s impressive performance in Germany has attracted the attention of Europe’s elite, having joined Leipzig from Leganés just last summer. He has exceeded expectations by scoring 13 goals and providing 9 assists in 36 matches, earning the prestigious Bundesliga Best Young Player award this season. Under contract until 2030, Leipzig holds a strong negotiating position. Although Diomandé has turned down advances from Bayern Munich, he is intrigued by the project at Anfield, keeping the transfer race wide open. In light of a potential bidding war with the affluent Parisian club, Liverpool’s recruitment team is proactively considering alternative options. Reports indicate that the Reds are also monitoring Bradley Barcola of PSG as a viable alternative. Barcola, primarily a left-sided player, offers versatility, tactical intelligence, and speed, making him an appealing option for Liverpool’s frontline overhaul. If PSG secures Diomandé, it could inadvertently push Barcola down the pecking order, potentially allowing Liverpool to capitalize.
